A 9-Week Phonics & Early Reading Programme
Ages 4–7 | Small Groups | Live Online Learning
Give your child the confidence to take their first big steps into reading.
Ready, Set, Read! is a fun, interactive 9-week programme designed to help young learners build strong foundations in phonics, reading and early literacy.
Through engaging live sessions, games, stories and carefully structured activities, children learn how sounds work, how to blend them together to read words and how to use their growing phonics knowledge with increasing independence.
At Learning Crest, we don’t want children to simply memorise sounds. We want them to understand how those sounds help them unlock words, sentences and stories.
What will your child learn?
Throughout the 9-week programme, children will develop:
Phonics knowledge – recognising and confidently using letter sounds
Blending – putting sounds together to read words independently
Segmenting – breaking words into sounds to support early spelling
Decoding skills – approaching unfamiliar words with confidence
Tricky word recognition – learning common words that cannot always be sounded out
Reading fluency – moving towards smoother, more confident reading
Vocabulary – discovering and using new words through stories and conversation
Early comprehension – talking about what they have read and showing understanding
The 9-Week Learning Journey
Weeks 1–3 — Build the Foundations
Strengthening sound recognition, letter–sound relationships and early blending.
Weeks 4–6 — Start Unlocking Words
Developing blending, segmenting, decoding and tricky-word recognition through increasingly independent practice.
Weeks 7–9 — Grow into a Reader
Moving from individual words towards sentences and short texts, while developing fluency, vocabulary and early comprehension.
More than just phonics
Children learn best when they feel comfortable enough to try, make mistakes, ask questions and try again.
That’s why Ready, Set, Read! combines structured phonics teaching with games, stories, speaking activities and plenty of opportunities to participate.
With small groups and personalised attention, every child is encouraged at their own level while still benefiting from learning alongside others.
By the end of the programme…
Your child should feel more confident approaching unfamiliar words, have stronger blending and decoding strategies, and be better equipped to continue developing as an independent reader.
Because learning to read isn’t about rushing through sounds. It’s about giving children the foundations to become readers for life.

Let’s begin their reading journey.
